Location: Buffalo, NY

Salary: $80,000-$100,000

The Product Engineer will evaluate new product opportunities and help determine which concepts should move forward. This business-focused role is ideal for an engineer interested in product strategy rather than design work.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate new product ideas from technical, commercial, and customer-facing teams.
• Define the customer problem and assess the proposed solution.
• Analyze customer value, market demand, competition, financial potential, and technical feasibility.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, and leadership to validate assumptions.
• Visit customer sites to understand applications and operational challenges.
• Prepare business cases, market requirements, and executive-level recommendations.
• Travel up to 15% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Two to six years of engineering, applications, field, or technical experience.
• Industrial equipment or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills.
• Interest in product strategy and commercial decision-making.
• Ability to work through ambiguity, challenge assumptions, and support recommendations with evidence.
• This is not a product design or drafting position.
