Assistant Coach, Wrestling

Responsibilities Assist with the development and implementation of a recruiting program consistent with institutional, conference, and NCAA rules designed to recruit student‑athletes who possess the academic and athletic skill needed to be successful at Bellarmine University, as well as regionally and nationally. Aid in recruiting high‑level prospective student‑athletes, including daily recruiting efforts, evaluating talent, coordinating depth charts, planning recruiting trips for staff, coordinating PSA campus visits, general correspondence, and all things connected to identifying elite athletes. Assist in planning and coordinating in‑season and out‑of‑season practices, including individual skill instruction and teamwork outings, focusing on developing athletic skills to compete at the Division I level. Provide instruction to wrestling student‑athletes in any position to enhance team performance. Assist in the planning and implementing match plans for each match, including development of opponents’ scouting reports. Monitor the academic progress of the wrestling student‑athletes. Effectively communicate with Athletics Academic Advisor to ensure any academic concerns are being addressed. Assist in scheduling matches as directed by the Head Coach. Participate in fundraising activities for the wrestling program (camps/showcases) and/or Department of Athletics. Promote a culture of inclusion, working effectively within a culture of individuals with diverse backgrounds, styles, abilities, and motivations. Abide by and comply with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Conference rules, academic standards, requirements, and policies of the Department of Athletics and University. Contribute to the overall success of the University’s intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university. Master’s preferred. Personal athletic experience as a collegiate wrestler or previous collegiate wrestling experience. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
