Deadline: June 2, 2026 District/Organization: Brown City Community Schools Position/Type: Other, full time Salary: per collective bargaining agreement with BCFT Notice of Vacancy-For the 2026-2027 School Year Speech and Language Pathologist Brown City Community Schools is seeking a highly qualified and student-centered Speech and Language Pathologist to support preschool and early elementary students. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience working with preschool-aged children, including students with speech/language impairments, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, and other special needs. This position will play a critical role in supporting early intervention, school readiness, communication development, and collaborative programming for at‑risk learners in both general education and special education settings. Position Responsibilities Provide speech and language therapy services to preschool and early elementary students using evidence-based practices Deliver both push‑in and pull‑out interventions based on student needs Support children with articulation, phonological, receptive/expressive language, social communication, and developmental communication needs Work collaboratively with preschool teachers, special education staff, interventionists, paraprofessionals, and families to support student growth Develop and implement individualized therapy plans aligned with IFSPs and IEPs Participate in evaluations, eligibility determination meetings, REEDs, METs, and IEP meetings Support transitions for students entering preschool and kindergarten programs Utilize strategies and interventions designed to support at‑risk learners and students with special needs Implement and support Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems when appropriate Provide coaching and guidance to staff and families regarding communication supports and developmental strategies Maintain compliance with state and federal special education requirements and timelines Qualifications and Requirements Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field considered with appropriate certification/licensure pathway Valid Michigan Speech‑Language Pathology License or eligibility for licensure required Valid Michigan teaching certificate with Speech and Language Impairment (SL) endorsement preferred, if applicable Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) preferred ASHA membership preferred Experience working with preschool-aged students and Early Childhood Special Education programs strongly preferred Knowledge and experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, behavioral needs, and communication disorders Experience implementing AAC systems and communication supports preferred Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and outside agencies Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to create positive relationships with students and families while maintaining high expectations and student‑centered practices CPI, CPR/First Aid, and/or Early Childhood assessment training preferred but not required Preferred Experience Areas Candidates with experience in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: Early On/Early Intervention services Push‑in classroom therapy models Parent coaching and family engagement Supporting nonverbal or minimally verbal students Play‑based intervention and natural environment instruction Trauma‑informed and relationship‑centered practices Supporting students transitioning into school‑based services Salary and Benefits Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the Brown City Federation of Teachers’ Master Agreement and based on experience and qualifications.
