Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) – Night Shift Travel Contract in Columbus, Ohio

Sterile Processing Travel Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,080–$1,160
• Location: Columbus, Ohio
• Healthcare Setting: Acute-care hospital and Level I trauma environment
• Start Date: November 30, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, through approximately March 1, 2027
• Shift: 8-hour overnight shifts, typically five shifts per week; generally scheduled around 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.
• Schedule Notes: Occasional holidays may be required. Weekend overnight schedules may be available.
• Float Requirement: May float among sterile processing locations within the health system.

Sterile Processing Technician Job Requirements

• At least 3 years of recent sterile processing experience in a busy acute-care hospital or comparable trauma setting
• CBSPD certification or CRCST certification through HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM)
• Required experience with Medivator systems
• Proficiency with decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, scope reprocessing, and sterile storage
• Experience with steam sterilization, STERRAD sterilization, biological and chemical indicators, immediate-use steam sterilization, and sterilization monitoring
• Experience processing complex surgical instrumentation, including robotic, orthopedic, trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, endoscopic, and specialty instruments
• Experience with CensiTrac or a comparable instrument-tracking system; Epic experience is preferred
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, tray assembly, wrapping materials, labeling, preference cards, and equipment documentation
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
• Ability to meet time-sensitive Ohio fingerprinting and credentialing requirements
• Two professional references, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader

Sterile Processing Technician Responsibilities

• Perform complete decontamination and manual cleaning of surgical instruments, drills, robotic equipment, scopes, and other reusable medical devices
• Assemble instrument sets and trays for multiple service lines, including trauma, orthopedics, cardiovascular, general surgery, ENT, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, plastics, urology, transplant, and robotics
• Operate and monitor steam sterilizers, STERRAD systems, ultrasonic cleaners, washers, and other sterile processing equipment
• Perform high-level disinfection and reprocess flexible and specialty endoscopes, including EGD, ERCP, EUS, EBUS, colonoscopes, bronchoscopes, and related equipment
• Use Medivator equipment and follow established procedures for scope and probe reprocessing
• Complete biological and chemical indicator testing, sterilization documentation, labeling, packaging, and quality-control procedures
• Maintain accurate instrument tracking and workflow documentation using CensiTrac or a comparable system
• Organize sterile storage areas and ensure instruments and supplies are delivered to points of use in an aseptic manner
• Serve as a liaison between the operating rooms and sterile processing locations to coordinate instrument availability, tracking, and distribution
• Support standardization and procurement of instrument trays across multiple procedural areas
• Follow infection prevention, safety, regulatory, and departmental policies while working efficiently in a high-volume environment
