Job ID: 19469 | Closing Date: 24-Jul-2026 | Location: North East | Type: Permanent Job Overview The Crime in Prisons Coordinator (CiPCo) plays a crucial role in strengthening establishment security, supporting law enforcement, improving justice outcomes and supporting victims and witnesses of crime committed in prison. The primary focus is to ensure that offences committed in prison are effectively identified, addressed and met with proportionate consequences. Summary The role involves managing crime‑related activities within a prison setting, gathering and maintaining crime‑related information and evidence, providing expert guidance, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating triage, and supporting victims and witnesses. Responsibilities Develop a comprehensive understanding of the operational environment and contribute to crime management efforts. Build expertise in legal and policy frameworks, providing bespoke advice to senior managers. Act as a central point of contact for crime in prisons work, liaising with internal departments, law enforcement and external stakeholders. Coordinate triage and assessment processes for crimes committed in prison, providing evidence‑based advice to senior managers and law enforcement. Organise and maintain accurate records of crime‑related data across local, regional or national platforms. Identify and monitor trends, themes and challenges, escalating recommendations to senior management. Support coordination of crime management activities, liaising with victims and witnesses, preparing information and evidence. Ensure positive working practices and adherence to protocols surrounding crime case coordination. Facilitate cohesion between internal and regional teams, aligning crime management strategies with organisational priorities. Support the care and wellbeing of victims and witnesses by updating case progression, signposting to specialist support teams. Experience Experience working in a prison environment is desirable. Technical Requirements Information technology knowledge and understanding is essential. Abilities Strategic awareness – understand broader organisational priorities, assess risk.
