Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant

Description:
Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, the Certified Nurse Assistant performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the scope of practice as defined by the certification.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status is essential.
The Certified Nurse Assistant must interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs.
Care is provided for both adult and geriatric patient groups.


Resident's activities of daily living (ADLs) needs are met as outlined in the plan of care.
This includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, and skin care.
Documentation must be completed per protocol.


The resident's environment and safety must be maintained as outlined in the plan of care.
This includes answering call lights and alarms promptly, provision of safety mats and low beds, and ensuring cleanliness of the unit.
Behavior and fall prevention measures must be followed.
Proper use of equipment and monitoring for malfunctions are essential.
Documentation must be completed per protocol.


The resident's nutritional needs should be met according to the plan of care.
This includes meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, feeding, and meeting resident preferences and choices.

The resident's rehabilitative needs are met as outlined in the plan of care.
This includes range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices.
Documentation must be completed per protocol.


The resident's rights, refusals, and concerns must be reported to the Charge Nurse in a timely manner.
Changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status are to be identified and reported promptly.
Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated.
Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
