Principal/Lead Systems Engineer

Salary: $95,000 - 135,000 per year Requirements:

• Extensive engineering background within the aerospace sector
• Experience in system-level integration, finite element analysis, and strong mechanical engineering capability
• Experience with aviation product certification under military or federal regulations
• Knowledge of materials science
• People management or supervisory experience, with at least 2-5 years in an engineering lead or middle management role
• Degree qualified in Engineering (BEng, MEng, BSc, or MSc), preferably in mechanical or aerospace engineering
• 5-10 years of engineering experience in industry
• Professional or Chartered Engineer status is desirable
• Experience in product safety is desirable
• Knowledge of inflatable or pressure-vessel products is desirable
• Experience with coated textiles or film manufacturing and joining processes, such as high-frequency and ultrasonic welding, is desirable

• Provide high-level design engineering expertise within contract terms or service level agreements, including planning, coordinating, and supervising major contracts
• Improve existing product designs, shape product roadmap changes, and support new product development through our NPD and change management processes
• Manage and develop our knowledge management system, ensuring effective knowledge capture and sharing
• Resolve emerging design, quality, safety, and operational issues by identifying causes, barriers, stakeholders, and related matters
• Develop procedures and interpret regulatory requirements to support product compliance and best practice, while monitoring the commercial performance of product developments
• Assess the feasibility of proposed complex products and services and recommend whether to develop, replace, or retire them
• Oversee a portfolio of change projects and report progress to senior colleagues
• Recommend improvements to policies, processes, standards, and working practices
• Identify solutions that best meet business and customer requirements
• Maintain continuous professional development and stay current on technology, regulations, and industry best practice
• Develop junior engineers and help establish and lead a Design Engineering team
