TOPS is headquartered in Naperville, IL with employees and locations across North America. TOPS Products / U Brands is seeking an Jr. Industrial Designer. This role provides industrial design support for the Senior Industrial Designers. The role assists the design team in creating new products that bring practical design solutions. From concept to production, the Jr. Industrial Designer will work on products that convey an exceptional aesthetic, performance and attention to detail. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Participate in various design projects from concept to completion Work with Senior Industrial Designers or Manager to determine requirements for designs Sketch new product ideas or concepts as directed/determined by the Senior Industrial Designer or Manager Basic 3D digital modeling for concept development and production Create specification sheets for products to be used by the factory for production Assist Senior Industrial Designers and Manager with renderings. Add texture, lighting or color Assist in the visual presentation of product concepts including in-use shots and lifestyle shots Use computer software to develop virtual models of different designs Create physical prototypes of product designs either by foam core mockups or 3-D printing Education/Experience BA or BS in Industrial Design Electronic portfolio with examples of design work Solid 2D and 3D software skills (Rhino, V‑Ray, Keyshot, 3‑D printing) Solid sketching skills – able to hand sketch multiple ideas Familiarity with design techniques (ex. prototyping) Familiarity with manufacturing techniques Technical aptitude – ability to pick up new technology quickly Written and verbal communication/documentation skills Creativity skills Ability to work collaboratively and in a fast‑paced environment Attention to detail Physical Requirements and Work Environment This is largely a sedentary role This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment Inside (sheltered) 100% Outside work 0% Travel required 0% What We Offer!
