Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in the Birmingham, Alabama area. This position is ideal for certified Special Education professionals with a strong background in self-contained classrooms, eager to create an impact during the current school year. You’ll work with a caseload assigned according to organizational need, with a maximum of 20 students, ensuring you have the opportunity to deliver focused and meaningful instruction.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education licensure for Alabama with the necessary endorsements
- Demonstrated experience in self-contained settings within K-12 schools
- Commitment to working onsite (no virtual/remote assignments)
- Ability to adapt to various caseloads and locations as needed
- Strong collaboration and communication skills when working with colleagues, parents, and support staff
- Substitutes will not be considered for this role
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction, support, and interventions to special education students based on their IEPs
- Develop and implement lessons tailored to individual learning, behavioral, and functional skills
- Maintain accurate records of progress, attendance, and communications
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to advance student outcomes
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team conferences
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students
