Employment Specialist - QMHP

Job summary Employment Specialist provides employment skills training to individuals diagnosed with severe mental illnesses who may also have co-occurring substance use disorders and/or chronic health conditions, utilizing a recovery-based and trauma-informed perspective. Employment Specialists operate in a dynamic environment, develop extensive knowledge of community resources, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and cultivate a clinical skill set by forging therapeutic relationships with diverse community members. Services are typically provided in the community and require the use of a personal automobile and cell phone. Responsibilities Work in partnership with racially and culturally diverse individuals to define and facilitate their desired life/employment outcomes. Participate in diagnostic evaluations and provide assessment of strengths, preferences, functional impairments, and symptoms of psychiatric and/or co-occurring disorders at regular intervals. Coordinate services with internal and external providers to support individuals in achieving independent functioning. Deliver therapeutic interventions fostering skills necessary to manage symptoms, obtain/maintain employment or housing, and access services such as school, medical care, nutritional assistance, financial assistance, transportation, and legal assistance. Facilitate employment skills training groups and utilize evidence-based interventions or therapeutic modalities. Provide on‑call duties as required by unit protocols. Provide bilingual communication services and complete a language competency test if required. Maintain regular, predictable attendance and may require a flexible work schedule. Work under the supervision of an LPHA who provides ongoing evaluation and oversight of all assessments, diagnoses, and treatment. Qualifications Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Current and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Bilingual in Spanish (preferred). Experience in mental health or related field (preferred). Additional Information Full‑time position (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday). Salary: $24.18 - $25.39 an hour based on education. Position requires residency in the State of Texas.
