Travel Surgical Technologist

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with at least 2 years of recent experience for a community hospital OR position requiring BLS certification.

Community hospital operating room setting

Day shift schedule with 4x10 hour shifts (6:45-17:15 or 8:30-19:00)

On-call responsibilities with a 20-minute response time, including overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage

Typical call requirement of one day per week and one weekend per month, subject to change

BLS certification required

Minimum of 2 years of recent relevant surgical technology experience

HS Diploma or GED required

Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or military training as a scrub tech

License required if applicable

General knowledge of surgical tools, procedures, and equipment

Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology

Strong written and verbal communication skills

General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Prepare sterile fields including sterile tables, tools, and patient draping

Assist surgeons in gowning and gloving and in determining surgical needs during procedures

Pass instruments and supplies, hold retractors, and anticipate surgeon needs during operations

Select, prepare, and inspect supplies and equipment for each procedure, ensuring proper working order

Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, updating appointments, and maintaining EHR and paperwork

Maintain accurate documentation related to supply inventory and ordering

Maintain a clean, neat, and safe operating room environment before and after procedures

Inspect and calibrate equipment, record QC results, and report malfunctions to supervisor

Maintain strict confidentiality of patient health information

Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations and department policies

May perform specific procedures and help orient new staff

Experience considered across a broad range of surgical specialties including vascular, gynecology, orthopedic, neuro, urology, ENT, robotics, and general surgery

Accepts local candidates at local rate within a 50-mile radius

Returning staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler

Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday approved per contract
