Summary The Paraeducator is responsible for supporting teachers in creating engaging, inclusive, and well-organized learning environments that promote the growth of elementary students. Working under the direction of certified staff, the paraeducator provides instructional, organizational, and supervisory support while helping maintain a safe and productive classroom where every student can succeed. Principal Accountabilities: Assist teachers in implementing instructional activities for individual students, small groups, and the whole class. Reinforce academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and organizational skills as directed by the classroom teacher. Support student learning by providing instructional assistance during classroom lessons, centers, intervention groups, and enrichment activities. Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, technology, bulletin boards, displays, and classroom resources. Help maintain a structured, safe, and positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and appropriate behavior. Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, field trips, and other school activities as assigned. Support students in developing independence, responsibility, problem-solving, and positive social interactions. Assist with student supervision and safety while maintaining high expectations for behavior and participation. Collect observational information and communicate student progress or concerns to the classroom teacher. Collaborate with teachers, specialists, interventionists, administrators, and other staff to support student success. Assist with routine clerical duties including copying, organizing instructional materials, preparing classroom resources, and maintaining student records as assigned. Maintain cooperative and respectful working relationships with students, families, and school personnel. Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and district policies. Demonstrate professional work habits including punctuality, attendance, dependability, flexibility, and participation in required meetings and professional learning. Model professionalism, ethical conduct, patience, and respect in all interactions with students, families, colleagues, and the community. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or supervising teacher. Certification, Knowledge and Skills: Associate's degree and one to three years of experience in education, child care, youth development, or a related field preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds. Ability to implement teacher-directed instructional strategies and classroom routines. Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with students while encouraging independence and personal responsibility. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Physical ability to assist with classroom activities, supervise students, and perform duties associated with an active elementary school environment. Willingness to participate in ongoing professional learning and receive constructive feedback. Understand that all work responsibilities are subject to performance goals established by the district.
