Job Description

The Sterile Processing Technician is an integral part of our healthcare team, responsible for ensuring the availability of sterile instruments and medical supplies across various surgical specializations. This role requires collaboration with team members to maintain a highly efficient and quality-focused sterile processing department.

Unit Details

• Average Surgical Case Volume: 65 cases per day
• Average Daily Tray Volume: 1200 trays
• Specialties: Neuro, Orthopedics, Robotics, Pediatrics, URO, General, and GYN
• Team Culture: Highly motivated and quality-focused team, serving as a teaching department

Key Responsibilities

• Process and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies according to established protocols.
• Maintain knowledge of surgical supplies and assist with case preparation.
• Participate in ongoing educational opportunities and maintain required certifications.
• Clean and organize the sterile processing area and equipment.
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years required, experience in sterile processing is essential
• Certifications Required: CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA
• First Time Travelers: Accepted with at least 2 years of experience

Orientation

• 3-Day Orientation on Day Shift
• First Day Arrival Time: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Days 2 and 3 Arrival Time: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
• Transition to contracted shift on Day 4

Travelers' Responsibilities

• Travelers may be required to float between similar units as needed.
• Expected to work rotating weekends and commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day).
