JOB SUMMARY:
Under the limited supervision of a higher-classified employee, this position is responsible for performing a variety of routine, non-routine, and sensitive bookkeeping and legal duties. The employee must perform these duties with accuracy and detail and assist the public in person and on the phone. The position also requires the ability to read and comprehend the Colorado State Statute.
This position is client-facing and does not have remote flexibility.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES:
Process Tax Lien Redemptions, receive and receipt tax payments, provide Certificates of Taxes Due, and perform any functions related to opening or closing the office.
Prepare and process Treasurer's Deeds per Colorado Statute, including research, data entry of information, balancing monthly funds, and preparing Treasurer's Deeds under direct supervision.
Provide backup assistance to the Treasurer as needed in areas such as counter assistance, handling mail, answering telephones, and posting property tax payments in specialized software. Help prepare for the annual Tax Lien Sale.
Communicate with realtors, mortgage companies, and distressed homeowners and assist with property tax problem resolution after consultation with the treasurer.
Maintain and update filing and record-keeping systems, which could include confidential records by adherence to HIPPA guidelines for the Treasurer's Office.
Perform additional duties and special projects of technical or confidential nature as required.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Requires knowledge and ability to handle all routine office tasks and projects and solve unusual or unique tasks with limited assistance in the full range of job duties.
Such a level is generally acquired through work history in the finance industry.
Five (5) years experience verifiable bookkeeping experience is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must perform at better than average competence in general clerical and office software skills.
Must have a better-than-average understanding of bookkeeping practices and concepts.
Ability to accurately and effectively transmit and receive information necessary to accomplish goals and objectives, including effective written and oral communication; ability to keep customers, subordinates, peers, and supervisors informed; critical listening skills are a requirement.
Able to maintain courteous and effective working relationships with the public, County departments, co-workers, and other agencies.
Computer proficiency is required, as well as the ability to learn and master several software applications used within the office, including MS Office and specialized property tax accounting software.
Requires knowledge and ability to accomplish tasks or projects consistently and accurately, paying close attention to detail and in various situations.
Proficient in using other office equipment such as a 10-key adding machine or calculator, multi-function copier, and typewriter.
Must be able to handle large amounts of cash and make change accurately.
Requires the ability to maintain high professionalism, honesty, and integrity.

SUPERVISORY:
There are no supervisory duties related to this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Requires the capability to do the following activities: standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods, lifting, carrying, reaching, grasping, pushing, and pulling. Must be physically able to lift up to 40 pounds. Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Must be capable of bending and keyboarding. Speaking and hearing voice conversation is essential to job performanceclear vision at 20 inches or less and up to 20 feet or more.

EMERGENCY DEPLOYMENT
Employees may be temporarily reassigned to perform emergency response or disaster recovery duties within their department or in other County departments during a County-declared emergency or disaster, as authorized under the Clear Creek County Employee Disaster Deployment Policy. Such assignments will align with operational needs and the employee's skills and may occur with limited notice. Deployment assignments require employee agreement, and employees will continue to receive their regular compensation in accordance with County policies and applicable labor laws during such assignments.
