Patient Accounts Assistant

Job Title Patient Accounts Assistant Department Patient Accounts Department Reports To Manager of A/R and Patient Accounts Position Summary The Patient Accounts Assistant is an essential member of the Patient Accounts Department. You will use a detail‑oriented approach and problem‑solving abilities to handle patient and vendor information, respond to patient questions, and assist with department reporting. The assistant maintains accurate records of interactions, payments, and account updates, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. This position interfaces internally with the accounts department and externally with patients and various company vendors. Schedule & Work Environment Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Daily tasks are performed at a computer, requiring frequent use of hands and fingers for data entry while sitting or standing at a desk. Key Responsibilities Prepare and distribute daily departmental reports and related information. Perform outbound calls as needed to obtain insurance information. Provide support for incoming phone calls as required. Ensure adherence to state and federal collections regulations, as well as HIPAA compliance. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Core Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. At least one year of customer service experience is preferred. Proficiency in general computer use, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Desired Qualifications Knowledge and use of HIPAA regulations is preferred. Comfortable with interfacing with diverse personalities. Professional phone etiquette. Action Oriented : Bias for action; When they see a problem they solve it using their industry knowledge, insights of trends, and internal processes and resources.
