Candidates must have a minimum of 1.5 years of experience in an ICU setting. The nurse will work night shifts, three times a week, for 12 hours each shift. Patient ratios will typically be 1:2 during the shifts. The nurse is expected to provide care for a variety of neurological conditions. Common patient diagnoses include traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, tumor resections, status epilepticus, and other neurological disorders. The role may involve floating to other ICU units, PCU floors, and the ED as needed. The position requires a strong background in neurocritical care skills and the ability to manage ventilated patients. The successful candidate will be well-versed in emergency procedures and possess the necessary certifications. This role does not require on-call duty but may involve varied weekend coverage based on unit needs. The unit offers interdisciplinary support from various services including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. This position is open to first-time travelers, and approval is needed for time off requests exceeding seven days.
