Bridge Lead Carpenter – Spartanburg, SC Reeves Construction Company, a Colas USA subsidiary, has been a key partner in infrastructure development across the Southeast and Midwest. Job Overview We are looking for an experienced Bridge Lead Carpenter to serve as a member and leader of a crew performing work for the repair, maintenance, and replacement of bridges and structures. The successful candidate will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence. Main Responsibilities Perform tasks on all construction project areas and aspects, including working with tools, lumber, and materials. Basic carpentry for building and bracing wooden forms and falsework. Drive pile operations: work off the ground positioning pile in leads, climb ladders up to 60 feet. Steel and concrete girder erection: assemble and guide girders into final position, handling as needed. Manage craftsmen, laborers, equipment, and materials. Maintain crews productively and efficiently. Train crew members. Attend daily safety meetings. Follow safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Perform quality work to meet requirements. Work hours adjusted to meet project needs, including days, nights, and weekends. Work in adverse weather conditions, hot or cold temperatures. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications 5+ years' experience in bridge/heavy highway construction. 2+ years' experience in a Lead/Lead Carpenter role (preferred). Demonstrated leadership capabilities; experience managing crews and subcontractors (preferred). Effective communication with crew members, project management, subcontractors, and vendors. Ability to read and understand work plans. Strong work ethic and desire to learn. Physical Demands Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or walk; talk or hear; taste or smell. Frequently stand and walk; occasionally sit. Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Excellent hearing, corrected by audio device if necessary. Work Environment Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is usually very loud.
