Substitute Library Aide

Job Summary Under the direction of the site administrator. Orders, receives, inventories, stamps, catalogs, shelves, maintains and checks in and out all library books, periodicals, and reference material keeps book circulation record. Supervises and assists children assigned to the library individually or by class. Orientates all students to proper uses and rules of the library. Repairs and disposes of books and/or materials as needed.
Organizes and maintains media center materials. Uses media center equipment in providing individual or small group instruction in accordance with teacher prescription or request. Uses various types of copying and duplicating machines to assist in providing classroom materials for teachers and maintains files of ditto masters, etc.
Provides playground supervision as needed or scheduled and performs other job-related tasks as assigned by the principal. Must be able to work well with other staff and collaborate and plan with Vineland Library.
Incorporated within one or more of the previously mentioned essential functions of this job description are the following essential physical requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Appropriate Education:
* Associate of Arts degree or 48 transferable Community College units
* Department of Justice/Criminal Background Clearance
* Active Tuberculosis screening
* Valid California Driver's License
* Automobile Insurance (minimum amount required by board policy)
* Ability to be insured by the District
* Reliable transportation in order to work in assigned area(s)
* Ability to lift 25 lbs
* Ability to carry 25 lbs
Requirements / Qualifications
Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license. Fingerprint clearance by the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.

Unless otherwise notified by the District, applications received in response to this posting will be considered for available District positions in this classification during the current school year. Those meeting minimum qualifications, including passage of required tests, will remain active during this time.
