This is an excellent opportunity for a caregiver who enjoys building meaningful relationships, promoting independence, and helping someone live a more active and fulfilling life.The ideal candidate is patient, calm under pressure, highly dependable, and experienced supporting individuals who benefit from structured routines, consistent expectations, communication support, and close supervision in community settings.Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP) | Developmental Disabilities SupportMayfield Area, OH20-40 Hours Per WeekHourlyPart Time, Full TimeLocation: Eastside Cuyahoga County (Mayfield Area)Shifts Available (Specific schedules to be discussed during the interview process.)AfternoonsEveningsWeekendsOvernight availability is highly preferredPay & BenefitsBased on experienceResponsibilitiesProvide one-on-one support in the home and communityAssist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, grooming, bathing, and personal careSupport participation in recreational, fitness, and community-based activitiesAssist with meal preparation while following dietary restrictions and nutritional guidelinesEncourage participation in household tasks and independent living skillsUtilize visual schedules, routines, and positive reinforcement strategiesSupport communication using verbal prompts and communication technology when appropriateProvide close supervision in the community to ensure safetySupport successful transitions between activities and changes in routineUtilize approved calming, redirection, and de-escalation techniques when neededMonitor for safety concerns and immediately report significant observationsMaintain accurate documentation and follow individualized care plansCollaborate closely with family members and the care teamIdeal Candidate ExperienceExperience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or developmental disabilities strongly preferredExperience with behavior support, de-escalation techniques, and positive behavior supports preferredExperience implementing structured routines, visual schedules, and task-based supportsExperience supporting individuals who use alternative or assistive communication methods preferredExperience providing community-based support and supervisionExperience working independently in a home settingOvernight caregiving experience is a plusRequirementsHigh School Diploma or GEDAt least one year of caregiving, DSP, behavioral supportCurrent CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)Negative TB Test or Chest X-RayValid Driver's LicenseReliable Transportation and Proof of InsuranceAbility to lift, transfer, and assist clients safelyStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to remain calm and professional during challenging situationsAbility to work independently while following established support plansCommitment to maintaining client confidentiality and dignityPreferred: DODD-certified Independent ProviderHHA, STNA, CNA, DSP, Nursing Assistant, or related training Why BrightStar Care?At BrightStar Care, we believe our caregivers deserve the same level of care and respect as our clients.
