Job Description Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) – School Setting Position Details Location: Kent , WA Position Type: Full-Time Grade Levels: K–12 Start Date: 6/29/2026 Pay: $80-$90 per hour Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated, highly skilled, and compassionate Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to support students across grades K-12 within a school-based setting. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), developing comprehensive Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and implementing evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies to reduce challenging behaviors and increase functional skills. The BCBA plays a pivotal role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that students with behavioral and emotional challenges can access their education and achieve their unique potential. Key Responsibilities Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs): Design, coordinate, and execute comprehensive FBAs and functional analyses to identify the underlying environmental variables and functions of challenging behaviors. Develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs): Create individualized, evidence-based BIPs that emphasize positive behavior supports, antecedent strategies, and skill-acquisition programs tailored to each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. IEP Goal Formulation and Progress Tracking: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary educational team to draft measurable behavioral, social, and emotional goals for student IEPs, and implement rigorous data collection systems to monitor ongoing progress. Provide Direct and Indirect Behavioral Intervention: Deliver direct behavioral therapy, crisis stabilization, and functional communication training to students, as well as indirect consultation to teaching teams. Staff Training and Professional Development: Design and conduct training sessions for teachers, special education staff, and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) or paraeducators on the proper implementation of BIPs, data tracking protocols, and de-escalation techniques. Data-Driven Decision Making: Collect, graph, and analyze behavioral data to evaluate the efficacy of interventions, making timely, data-informed adjustments to BIPs and support strategies as necessary. Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Participate actively in IEP meetings, student support team (SST) discussions, and manifestation determination reviews, communicating complex behavioral concepts clearly to families and non-behavioral professionals. Regulatory and Compliance Standards: Ensure all assessments, plans, and interventions comply with state and federal special education regulations (e.g., IDEA), district policies, and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Ethics Code. Minimum Qualifications Certification: Current and active certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) (required). Licensure: Current state licensure or credentialing as required by the state of practice to practice as a behavior analyst in a school setting (required). Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience practicing as a BCBA, with a strong preference for prior experience in a public, private, or charter school setting (preferred). Knowledge Base: Deep understanding of school-based behavioral frameworks, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS), and IEP procedural processes.
