Technical Program Manager, Level 4

Snap Inc is a technology company that focuses on augmenting communication through visual content. The company offers products such as Snapchat, Lens Studio, and Spectacles. We are looking for a Technical Program Manager (TPM) who will own large‑scale, technically challenging programs and partner with engineering and product teams to shape roadmaps, make trade‑offs, and drive execution. TPMs at Snap are hands‑on contributors, writing Python notebooks, building dashboards, and building automation tools. Interview Process: candidates undergo a technical screen followed by a virtual onsite with a program leadership presentation and four one‑on‑one interviews with senior leaders. Responsibilities Lead complex cross‑functional programs that span multiple engineering organizations, requiring deep technical understanding and strategic influence. Operate as a single‑threaded owner for the most critical programs, managing ambiguity, dependencies, and alignment across diverse teams. Own the full program lifecycle from ideation to execution to operational excellence, delivering outcomes aligned with product, infrastructure, and platform goals. Partner directly with engineering and product leadership to shape roadmaps, influence technical decisions, and drive accountability. Use hands‑on data analytics (Python, SQL, dashboards, notebooks) to guide programs, uncover insights, and communicate with senior stakeholders. Build automation tools to improve internal systems and identify opportunities for platform‑wide transformation. Work across development and platform excellence programs, focusing on reliability, efficiency, and performance. Drive the operating rhythm of the business, ensuring engineering systems scale effectively while remaining cost‑conscious. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent technical experience. 2+ years of experience leading cross‑functional initiatives in engineering, data science, or technical program management. Proven track record of leading large‑scale ambiguous programs across distributed teams. Strong proficiency with Python and SQL; experience using data to analyze systems or build tools. Experience with data visualization tools (Grafana, Looker, Tableau) and source control (GitHub), ticket management (JIRA). Direct engineering collaboration, contributing to technical design, architectural trade‑offs, and roadmap planning. Comfort with high visibility and accountability, thriving on ownership and impact. Ability to learn new domains, systems, or technologies quickly. Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Background in software engineering or infrastructure systems. Hands‑on experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Airflow, Hive, Kafka, or Flink. Familiarity with cloud‑native infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and containerization tools like Kubernetes or Docker. Experience building internal tools or developer platforms to improve engineering velocity and reliability. Experience managing production systems, reliability initiatives, or cost‑optimization programs. Exposure to high‑scale consumer technology or social platforms with privacy, performance, or safety requirements. Strong storytelling and presentation skills, especially with senior engineering or executive audiences. Master’s or Ph.D. in a highly analytical field. Compensation Pay is determined by job‑related skills, experience, and location. Starting salary ranges: Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): $157,000–$235,000 annually. Zone B: $149,000–$223,000 annually. Zone C: $133,000–$200,000 annually. Eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
