Medical Call Center Representative

Description Position Description: The Medical Call CenterRepresentative will be responsible for verifying and documenting all referrals and authorizations for physician clinic visits. They will verify new and existing insurance benefits to ensure that the correct co-pay is collected at the time of service, claims are filed to the correct mailing address, and referral requirements are documented. This person will be responsible for scheduling patients for physicians according to patient need in a call center environment. Compensation $16.00 – $17.00 per hour Compensation is based on experience, certification level, and relevant orthopedic or high-volume clinical background. What you'll do: Contacting insurance companies via phone or internet to obtain effective date of insurance coverage, type of coverage, co-pay or co-insurance information, coverage for x-rays and casting, PCP information if required, whether referral is required, and address for claims submission. Ensure all benefit information if properly documented in the system. Contact patient if information we have is not correct or we are unable to verify benefits for any reason, in order to obtain accurate information prior to patient’s scheduled appointment. Properly document the need for referral and coordinate with the Authorization Representative to confirm if any authorization questions occur. Utilize insurance websites (Availity, Humana Military (Tricare), United Healthcare, etc.) to obtain insurance benefits. Assure compliance with all company plans policies and procedures set forth by the Florida Orthopaedic Institute Efficiently answer calls and schedule patient appointments All other duties as assigned. (required) Registration, scheduling, healthcare benefits experience helpful. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Must be detail oriented. Able to multi-task and handle high call volumes. Must have working knowledge of Windows based computer environment and typing skills. 2 or more years of experience in a healthcare environment. (preferred) Experience in orthopaedics, trauma, or a high-volume practice Knowledge or understanding of scheduling systems Experience in orthopedics or another specialty clinic Prior experience assisting with orthopedic procedures such as injections or suture removal What We Offer: A stable, full-time assignment with a growing orthopedic practice.
