Temporary Universal Banker Self-Help started in 1980 with a focus on economic inequality especially in communities that have faced systemic barriers in building wealth. At the core of what Self-Help does is a drive to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity. In other words, we're committed to economic justice! Economic justice means that all communities have the basic infrastructure they need to thrive, from high-quality schools to grocery stores selling fresh food resources that support opportunity at a neighborhood level regardless of demographics, income, or wealth. Since our founding, we've constantly sought to find new ways to pursue greater economic justice: from providing fair and affordable loans to working with partners to demand that lawmakers change unjust policies. We are seeking a Temporary Universal Banker to join our Bronzeville/South Loop, IL team! What You'll Do: Manage the consumer loan process from initiation through pre-qualification to closing, including interviewing loan applicants, preparing applications, preparing files for processing and underwriting, providing timely accurate disclosures to members, and troubleshooting issues that may arise. Work with members (customers) to meet their financial service needs Promote credit union products and services based on member's needs Process share deposit payments, loan payments, CD and lines of credit transactions, etc. Disburse cash and check withdrawals. Open, close, and balance cash drawer daily. Handle Vault Teller responsibilities and balance ATM daily. Initiate conversations to suggest new products and services. Participate in Credit Union outreach events. Adhere to general regulatory procedures. What You'll Need: 3-5 years in a financial institution or other customer service industry preferred Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred, not required. Ability to form and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers. May be required to travel to cover other branches. High school diploma or equivalent.
