Job Details

We are partnering with a highly respected, full-service law firm seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Attorney to join its Houston office on an initial three-month contract assignment with strong potential to become a permanent member of the team.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who can immediately step into an active litigation practice and independently manage sophisticated commercial litigation matters.

While Labor & Employment litigation experience is highly preferred, attorneys with strong commercial litigation backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Manage commercial litigation matters in both Texas state and federal courts
• Draft and respond to written discovery
• Prepare initial disclosures and discovery requests
• Draft protective orders and other procedural filings
• Prepare detailed deposition outlines
• Schedule and coordinate depositions
• Take and defend depositions
• Evaluate discovery responses and develop litigation strategy
• Prepare removals to federal court
• Draft corporate disclosure statements
• Prepare for and attend pretrial conferences
• Draft dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment
• Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive legal memoranda
• Work directly with clients throughout all phases of litigation
• Collaborate with partners and litigation teams on complex business disputes

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in Texas
• Litigation experience
• Commercial litigation experience required
• Labor & Employment litigation experience preferred
• Significant experience in both Texas state and federal courts
• Strong deposition experience
• Extensive motion practice experience
• Excellent legal writing and analytical skills
• Ability to independently manage an active litigation workload
