Key Responsibilities

• Direct and implement physical therapy treatments aimed at preventing disability, alleviating pain, and restoring physical function, following established care plans.
• Supervise and guide Physical Therapy Assistants, ensuring they correctly execute treatment plans and provide quality patient care.
• Conduct thorough evaluations to assess patients' physical abilities, including muscle, nerve, and joint assessments, to develop tailored therapeutic interventions.
• Evaluate patients' living environments and recommend modifications that enhance their independence and quality of life.
• Deliver in-home therapy services as prescribed by physicians, adapting strategies to meet the specific conditions and needs of each patient.
• Administer a range of therapeutic interventions, including manual therapy, exercises, traction, and physical agent modalities.
• Manage the fitting, adjustment, and evaluation of prosthetic and orthotic devices, coordinating with medical staff as needed.
• Document all clinical records accurately and comprehensively, including initial evaluations, OASIS assessments, care plans, and discharge summaries.
• Participate actively in team meetings, case conferences, and ongoing discussions regarding patient care strategies and outcomes.
• Provide education to patients and their families about their therapy programs and the proper use of therapeutic devices.
• Remain accessible to Physical Therapy Assistants and other team members to foster a collaborative care environment, ensuring patients receive consistent and effective therapies.

Qualifications

• A Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution.
• Current, valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist in Virginia.
• Active CPR certification.
