Job Overview Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Care, Advocate Sherman Hospital, Elgin, IL. Full‑time, 36 hours per week, 7pm–7am shifts, three 12‑hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays. Pay range $38.20–$57.30 per hour. Major Responsibilities Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence‑based practices. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families through the continuum of care. Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team to influence care outcomes. Uphold and promote a culture of safety, continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, and take action as needed. Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures. Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications. Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics and practice ethical decision‑making, respect interdisciplinary roles, and contribute to integrated, unbiased patient care. Delegate care to other Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and unlicensed assistive personnel as appropriate. Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation. Float to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs as required. Provide age‑appropriate care, applying knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and interpreting data to identify patient requirements. Minimum Job Requirements Education: Graduate of a Board of Nursing‑approved nursing education program. Certification / Registration / License: Basic Life Support (BLS). Actively licensed RN with multi‑state compact or single‑state license to practice in the state(s) where services are provided. Experience: Typically requires one year of clinical nursing experience. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking; time management, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment; proficiency in operating computer functions (e.g., E‑mail, electronic records, digital platforms). Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, twist; lift and support up to 35 pounds; push/pull with 30 pounds force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present; functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch; maneuver foot pedals; perform physical safety interventions such as restraint and verbal de‑escalation; exposure to chemical/hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, communicable disease; protective clothing and equipment required; able to respond quickly to changes in patient/unit conditions; physical ability testing may be required.
