Director of Nursing Emergency

Director of Emergency Services Located at 601 Dr. Martin Luther King Ave., the director will oversee operations across two emergency departments: the 21‑bed department at Lovelace Medical Center and the 7‑bed department at Lovelace Heart Hospital. The role involves working collaboratively with interdisciplinary leaders across behavioral health, med‑surg and other service lines to ensure high‑quality, efficient emergency care delivery. Position Summary The nurse director is a professional registered nurse responsible for twenty‑four hour oversight of assigned departments. The director provides overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the unit, executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, and leads leadership and mentorship in staff development. The director monitors and evaluates quality, patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction outcomes to implement improvement strategies, establishes strong collaborative relationships with physicians, and manages administrative, financial and clinical activities. Responsibilities Executes strategic planning, leads mentoring/coaching, and identifies department succession strategy. Oversees both EDs at LMC and Heart Hospital. Manages physician relationships and engagement. Collaborates with marketing and nursing leadership on marketing, community outreach, and visibility initiatives. Develops and oversees quality initiatives, staffing and productivity guidelines, and customer service goals. Analyzes and monitors compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency standards. Plans and organizes orientation and in‑service training for staff members; participates in guidance and educational programs. Develops, implements and evaluates policies, standards and programs that support the unit or department. Prepares and submits budget strategies and capital budgets for the unit or department. Uses forecasted budget to guide expenditure decisions. Initiates activities to enhance revenues and support cost reduction and containment activities. Demonstrates empathy, intentionally works to put others at ease. Qualifications Job Requirements: Bachelor’s in nursing from an accredited school of nursing required. If applicant does not have a BSN, must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program with a scheduled date of completion. Current RN license or an equivalent license accepted by the applicable State Board of Nursing. Minimum of five years’ clinical nursing experience, of which at least three years must have been in a management capacity. Preferred Job Requirements Master’s degree in nursing and/or related field.
