Goal of the Banquet Manager The Banquet Manager is responsible for effectively and proactively monitoring the daily functions of the Banquets Department, providing support and guidance to the banquet team, catering and convention services team, and ensuring a successful and positive guest experience through close communication with all hotel departments. Responsibilities Supports and manages the Events Department while working closely with the Food and Beverage Director and other hotel departments, including convention services setup and banquet beverage. Supervises, empowers, leads, coaches, and motivates the banquet team, including captains, food servers, and lead house attendants, toward achieving exceptional guest service results and complete associate engagement. Assists the hotel in reaching top box service scores on our Meeting Planner surveys by ensuring thorough communication with guests and other departments, reviewing banquet event orders, and maintaining standards of food, beverage, and meeting specifications. Proactively reviews staffing and equipment needs. Coordinates and executes all events with culinary, stewarding, catering/CS, CS floor, and beverage teams. Maintains a high‑energy, positive, professional appearance. Manages short- and long-term banquet functions in the front and back of the house. Creates an environment that establishes the highest standards of quality service and ensures implementation through effective hiring, training, development, promotion, and continuous reinforcement. Handles administrative tasks such as payroll, reports, forecasts, point-of-sale procedures, inventory, and budget for food and beverage functions. Performs daily walk-throughs in the banquet department and all function spaces and storerooms to ensure full compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt corporate standards. Develops ideas for special events and holiday functions. Starting salary for this position is $84,100. Actual pay will be commensurate with experience. Why Work For Hyatt? A true desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast-paced environment. Refined verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in general computer knowledge. Extremely creative, innovative, detail-oriented, and organized. Hotel experience and a thorough understanding of all levels of banquet service. Previous experience as an event services manager/assistant, banquet captain, or event services supervisor preferred. Strong strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, effective communication, strong development and training skills, and effectiveness in providing exceptional customer service.
