Surveying Project Manager / Field Crew Supervisor

This role owns field operations for every active survey — crew scheduling, work sequencing, equipment accountability, and field-data quality. It exists because field execution is where survey margin is won or lost: idle crews, repeat site visits, and bad field data destroy project profitability and stall deliverables. Success means crews run at high billable utilization, projects close on or under their field budget, and data reaches CAD clean enough to draft without rework. The role directs party chiefs and instrument operators day to day and coordinates directly with clients, the office, and the CAD team on scope and field conditions. It carries direct accountability for safety and Florida field-survey standards on every job. Performance is measured on utilization, budget variance, on-time completion, and rework — not effort. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS The metrics that matter most for the position include: Project field-budget variance (actual vs. estimated field hours) On-time field-completion rate % Repeat site-visit rate % Equipment calibration compliance and uptime % Preventable safety incidents (#) WHAT YOU’LL DO Field Operations & Scheduling Schedule and sequence all field crews daily against project priorities and deadlines. Mobilize crews only with complete scope, control data, and site access confirmed first. Track field hours against estimate per project; flag overruns before they blow the budget. Crew Supervision Direct party chiefs and instrument operators; set daily field assignments. Enforce field QA — verify data is complete and accurate before crews leave the site. Train and correct field staff on procedure, equipment use, and Florida field standards. Equipment & Data Control Own equipment accountability, calibration, and uptime (GPS/GNSS, total stations, data collectors). Manage data transfer from collectors to the office/CAD with no loss or corruption. Coordination & Compliance Coordinate with clients, the office, and CAD on scope, field conditions, and deliverables. Enforce safety and Florida field-survey standards on every job site. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 5+ years in land surveying field work, including time as a party chief. Proven crew supervision — you've run multiple projects and crews at once. Fluency with GPS/GNSS, total stations, and modern data collectors. Florida boundary, topo, and construction-layout field experience. You don't pass incomplete data downstream, and you own budget and schedule, not just tasks.
