This role offers experienced MIG welders the opportunity to travel and work on long-term assignments with a leading trailer manufacturer. You will perform MIG welding on mild steel, support light fabrication tasks, and work directly from blueprints to produce high-quality trailers used by major logistics companies. The position provides structured advancement through three welder levels, competitive compensation including per diem, and consistent work booked out for several years.

Weld Test: consists of three fillet welds in three different positions. A horizontal (2F) A vertical down(3F) and an overhead(4F). Each weld will be on three different T-joint assemblies. We weld in the globular mode of transfer with .045 hard wire and 90/10 gas. Our range of weld settings are from 404-446WFS and 23.5-25.5 Volts. You can adjust the machine while practicing/testing, Just please stay within those settings. Since we weld in the globular mode, please no whipping your welds. We ask for stringer welds and to push the weld puddle. In each position I’ll ask you to perform a tie-in. I’m looking for a stop of the weld arc and a restart tying into the previous weld and continuing the weld till the end. Mild Steel, must pass bend test

Responsibilities

• Perform all MIG welding on mild steel components to meet quality and safety standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints with at least 1 year of experience to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
• Carry out small fabrication duties such as cutting, bending, and assembly as needed to support production.
• Follow established welding procedures and specifications to maintain consistency and structural integrity.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure trailers are built to required specifications and timelines.
• Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Adapt to different shifts and schedules, including extended hours, to meet production demands.
• Participate in skill development and progression through the three welder levels, taking advantage of opportunities for advancement.
• Support implementation of new automation and equipment upgrades by learning and applying updated processes.
• Comply with all safety policies, including the use of required personal protective equipment such as ear plugs, steel toe or composite shoes, weld helmet, and gloves.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of MIG welding experience on mild steel.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience reading and working from blueprints.
• Proficiency in MIG welding techniques with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds.
• Ability to perform basic fabrication tasks including cutting, bending, and assembly.
• Capability to work safely in a large manufacturing facility and follow all safety procedures.
• Willingness and ability to travel and commit to contract assignments ranging from 4 to 12 months.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including first, second, and weekend shifts, as well as overtime up to 50 hours per week.
• Physical ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment and perform the demands of welding and fabrication.
• Strong attention to detail when interpreting blueprints and executing welds and assemblies.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a very large manufacturing facility that is not climate controlled, though the building is heated during the winter. Ear plugs are required as part of standard safety practices. Multiple shift options are available, including 1st shift (5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (4:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday), weekend days (5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday through Sunday), and weekend nights (5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Friday through Sunday). There is flexibility and opportunity to work up to 50 hours per week by starting early, staying late, or adding extra days during the week or weekend. The environment includes modern welding and fabrication equipment with ongoing upgrades and increased automation. The dress code requires jeans, a work-appropriate t-shirt, steel toe or composite shoes, a weld helmet, and gloves, with additional personal protective equipment such as ear plugs provided or required as needed.

This is a Contract position based out of Dallas, TX.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
