Company Description The Office of the Under Secretary of War (Comptroller) / Chief Financial Officer (OUSW(C)/CFO) serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary of War on budgetary, fiscal, and financial management matters. The organization oversees policy, planning, and execution of defense resources to ensure accountability and effective use of public funds. OUSW(C)/CFO also shares financial management updates, career opportunities, and organizational information with the broader defense and financial communities. The office operates within a framework of strict legal, ethical, and security standards, including responsible use of digital platforms and protection of information. Role Description These are full-time, on-site positions based in Washington, D.C. for members of the DoW's Reserve Components. Joint Task Force Audit (JTF-A) is a Secretary of War initiative in the process of standing up its military augmentation. JTF-A's mission is to achieve a Congressionally-mandated requirement for the War Department to obtain an unmodified "clean" opinion from independent auditors by the end of FY2028. The military component of Task Force Audit will augment civilian efforts led by the Undersecretary of War (Comptroller)'s office by providing complementary skills and uniformed military experiences and perspectives. Military members will serve either on one of the topic area audit assistance teams or in the O‑8 Deputy Director's small staff. Desired skill/experiential areas for audit assistance team ("A-Team") members include data science/data engineering; logistical/inventory & financial control systems; and audit conduct or compliance experience. Skill areas in the staff include data visualization & common operating picture and an administrative assistant to handle pay/travel orders and other personnel matters. Duties involve supporting the conduct of testing of inventory and operating materials & supplies, assisting with implementation of information systems and AI‑enabled tools to support auditability across the Department, and providing evaluations and assessments on the progress of critical weakness remediation.
