Military and Travel Pay Specialist

This range represents base pay and does not include overtime, bonuses, or benefits. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses when applicable. Responsibilities Process active duty, reserve, and retired pay transactions Calculate entitlements (basic pay, housing allowance, special pay, etc.) Handle pay adjustments, debts, and overpayments Ensure compliance with military pay regulations (e.g., DFAS policies) and travel pay requirements Review and process travel vouchers and reimbursement claims Verify travel orders and receipts Calculate per diem, mileage, and lodging reimbursements Ensure compliance with the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and provide customer support Assist service members and employees with pay inquiries Explain pay policies and procedures Provide guidance on submitting proper documentation Qualifications BS/BA/BBA degree from an accredited college/university in a STEM discipline Minimum of 2 years of DoD finance experience Active Secret Clearance (requires U.S. citizenship) Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of financial systems and spreadsheets Understanding of government or military pay systems Good communication and customer service skills Comprehensive knowledge of tools and systems Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) systems Defense Travel System (DTS) Microsoft Excel and financial software Compensation and Benefits We also offer a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan and 529 education savings plan; Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts; and additional benefits.
