What We Are Seeking

Sparkz has established leadership in battery energy storage systems (BESS) for the grid as part of its mission to be at the forefront of a US produced lithium-ion battery energy ecosystem. We are seeking a systems technician. As part of Sparkz Battery System Design Team, you will bring "out of the box yet first principles thinking" for developing, testing, and validating the BESS and help scale it to production working with a highly motivated and interdisciplinary team.

Position Overview

The Systems Technician is a key member of our systems integration team where you will be responsible for assisting in the design, documentation, and development of our Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS) portfolio. You will work closely with senior engineers, operations, maintenance, and R&D to help ensure equipment reliability, process stability, and safe operation of manufacturing systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Establishing interface definitions across components and between mechanical, electrical, and software teams
• Lead the assembly, wiring, and plumbing of novel BESS products
• Support the setup, commissioning, and operation of mechanical and process systems used in BESS development
• Analyze, critique, and improve manufacturing processes related to the construction of a production-ready BESS
• Help document standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance procedures, and system documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, safety, and quality
• Follow and promote all safety, environmental, and quality standards within the facility

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or an Associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering a closely related engineering discipline
• Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply (0–2 years of relevant experience)
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals (statics, dynamics, materials, fluid systems, thermodynamics)
• Ability and willingness to work hands-on with industrial equipment in a manufacturing setting
• Experience with hand and power tools strongly encouraged
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship, co-op, or academic project experience in manufacturing, energy, battery, or industrial systems
• Excellent first-principles physics understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, power delivery, energy transformation, and basic thermal mechanics
• Experience reading mechanical drawings, P&IDs, or equipment manuals
• Experience with data collection, Excel, or basic engineering analysis tools

Compensation: $50-60K annual salary range
