Solutions Architect

Solutions ArchitectCandidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.The Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and guiding enterprise application solutions that support Family Dollar's business operations at scale. This role works closely with business partners, product owners, development teams, and external vendors to translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.The Solutions Architect plays a key role during intake, design, and delivery by defining solution architectures, integration patterns, and technical standards. While not directly responsible for people or project management, this role provides critical technical leadership to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles and long?term technology strategy.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign end?to?end application and integration solutions that are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standardsTranslate business requirements into clear technical architectures, designs, and integration patternsProvide technical leadership and architectural guidance to development teams and external partnersReview and approve solution designs, vendor proposals, and implementation approachesIdentify architectural risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs, and recommend mitigation strategiesDefine and govern APIs, data flows, system integrations, and platform alignmentCollaborate closely with application development, infrastructure, security, and business teams throughout deliverySupport modernization efforts, including legacy reduction, cloud adoption, and platform optimizationEnsure solutions are production?ready, supportable, and aligned with long?term technology strategyMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent professional experience.7+ years of experience in application development, system integration, or architecture rolesDemonstrated experience designing complex, multi?system enterprise solutionsStrong understanding of application architecture patterns and design principlesExperience working with internal delivery teams and external vendors or system integratorsStrong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non?technical audiencesPreferred but not requiredFamiliarity with retail enterprise systems such as store systems, supply chain, merchandising, or corporate platformsWorking knowledge of: Web and mobile application architecturesBackend services, APIs, and event?driven integration patternsData feeds, messaging platforms, and ETL processesExperience supporting business?critical, highly integrated systemsExposure to Agile or hybrid delivery models and SDLC best practicesGeneral understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and enterprise architecture conceptsFamily Dollar is an equal opportunity employer and committed to recruiting, hiring, training, and promoting qualified people of all backgrounds, and make all employment decisions without regard to any protected status.
