Automotive Service Writer - Weekly Base PLUS Weekly Bonus Opportunity

Location: Charlotte, NC
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Pay Rate: $800-$1,000 weekly base, depending on experience
Pay Type: Base pay plus weekly sales bonus/commission

Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Service Writer in Charlotte, NC for a well-established independent repair shop. This customer-facing role is ideal for an experienced service writer who can write repair orders, coordinate parts, and confidently present recommended services to customers. The shop operates Monday-Friday and services a mix of domestic, European, and Asian vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

• Write service tickets and accurately document customer vehicle concerns.
• Communicate with customers about recommended automotive repairs and services.
• Present and sell recommended services while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
• Order parts needed for approved repairs and coordinate with the technician.
• Help manage repair orders from customer intake through completion.
• Use NAPA TRACS for shop management and AutoVitals for digital vehicle inspection workflow.
• Follow up with customers and support an organized, efficient service process.
• Work closely with ownership and take direction on shop priorities and customer needs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of automotive service writing or Automotive Service Writer experience.
• Experience writing repair orders, ordering parts, and selling automotive services.
• Strong customer communication and service skills.
• Strong typing skills are a plus.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from ownership.
• Ability to work effectively in a small, hands-on independent repair shop.
• Able to follow the shop's job-related uniform and hygiene standards.

Compensation & Benefits

• $800-$1,000 weekly base pay, depending on experience.
• Sales bonus/commission based on your sales!
• Based on current sales, bonus earnings average approximately $400 per week; actual earnings vary based on sales and are not guaranteed.
• Weekly pay, with payday on Monday.
• After the 90-day probationary period, $50 per week added to the employee's paycheck to help with the cost of individually obtained medical, dental, and vision insurance.
• One week of PTO after one year.

• The shop closes for one week at the end of June and for the week of Christmas.
