Job Description: The Laboratory Technician is responsible for collaborating with all other Quality functions, providing resources and assistance, amp; ensuring the consistent flow of product through the 305 Lab Work Center.

Principle Duties amp; Responsibilities:nbsp;

• Perform metallurgical evaluations to determine the microstructure and case depth of heat treated samplesnbsp;
• Actively manage the labs to complete all lab work within 24 hours of receiptnbsp;
• Ensure the accuracy of the Lab cell in Bluestreaknbsp;
• Generate well written and thorough certificates of heat-treatingnbsp;nbsp;
• Metallurgical Evaluationsnbsp;

nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;o Sections samples for evaluationnbsp;

nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;o Coordinate with Mechanical Outsourcing the outsourcing of parts that are too large to section internallynbsp;

nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;o Sand and polish samplenbsp;

nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;o Perform micro hardness testingnbsp;

nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;o Determine case depths for case hardened worknbsp;

nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;o Evaluate the microstructural components of samplesnbsp;

nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;o Generate photographs of sample microstructuresnbsp;

• Perform basic maintenance on all lab equipmentnbsp;
• Calibrate the microhardness testernbsp;
• Monitor amp; maintain lab suppliesnbsp;
• Verify tags are accurate and completenbsp;
• Replace tags as required to prepare for shippingnbsp;
• Maintain test pin archive and dispose of old test pins in a timely mannernbsp;
• Manage the Lab/Mechanical area to ensure all available lab samples are evaluated within 24 hours of receipt.nbsp;
• Maintain the accuracy of all mechanical outsource cells dailynbsp;
• Prepare items for Transfer between different ThermTech work centersnbsp;
• Generate, fill out, and assist in the investigation of Non-Conformances
• Coordinate with Internal Customers to ensure due dates are met and information flows to concerned individuals.nbsp;
• Communicate with External Customers when needed
• Ensure lab organization amp; cleanlinessnbsp;

Minimum Requirements:

All hires are contingent upon a 9-panel hair follicle drug test amp; background check.nbsp;

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:nbsp;

• Previous laboratory and/or heat treat experience considered a plus
