Registered Nurse - Obstetrics (RN OB)

The Registered Nurse in the Obstetric Inpatient Unit is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. This role includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for women undergoing obstetric procedures and those experiencing complications.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring

License Requirements

Current nursing license valid through Nursys verification.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health status.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and other vital signs.
• Facilitate patient education regarding pregnancy, birthing processes, and postpartum care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Provide support to families during the labor and delivery process.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• Demonstrated knowledge of obstetric and maternal-child nursing principles.
• Experience in an inpatient obstetric setting is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
