This individual will be responsible for meeting BCI’s annual sales targets and margins. Job Summary The Director of Vocational Employment Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of all Vocational Employment programming, including Pre-Vocational Services, Vocational Skills Training programs, and the Summer Work Program. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving services that prepare individuals with disabilities for competitive, integrated employment. The Director ensures high-quality, person-centered programming that builds workplace readiness, technical skills, and successful employment pathways. This position works collaboratively with internal teams, funding sources, school districts, and community partners to create meaningful training and employment opportunities. In addition, the Director serves as the lead coordinator for the Summer Work Program, ensuring the development of impactful, compliant, and well-supported work experiences for participating students. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Oversight Provide leadership and direction for Pre-Vocational Services and Vocational Skills Training programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and best practices. Design, implement, and evaluate workforce readiness and vocational training programs, including classroom-based, site-based, and on-the-job training. Ensure programming prepares individuals for entry-level and career pathway employment opportunities. Oversee participant intake, assessment, progress monitoring, and successful program completion. Curriculum Development & Instructional Oversight Oversee the development and delivery of vocational and soft skills curriculum (e.g., communication, teamwork, time management, workplace safety). Support the team to ensure training materials, lesson plans, and instructional methods meet diverse learning needs and industry expectations. Monitor participant learning outcomes through skill assessments, employer-based tasks, and performance evaluations. Support continuous improvement of curriculum, training aids, and instructional practices. Team Leadership & Development Supervise and support vocational instructors and staff. Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff, including seasonal Summer Work Program staff. Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture focused on participant success. Provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities. Manage staff schedules, assignments, and performance evaluations. Conduct regular team meetings to maintain communication, consistency, and quality across programming. Summer Work Program Coordination Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Summer Work Program for high school students. Secure and coordinate local businesses to serve as summer work sites. Oversee participant recruitment, intake interviews, and onboarding processes. Supervise and support summer job coaches to ensure quality experiences for participants. Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and billing related to summer programming. Community & Employer Engagement Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, employers, funding agencies, school districts, and community organizations. Develop new vocational training opportunities and employment partnerships. Ensure training programs align with current industry standards and workforce needs. Promote program visibility and engagement within the community. Additional Responsibilities Promote and enforce a safe, clean, and structured learning environment. Ensure all services are delivered in compliance with applicable regulations and standards, including CARF, Medicaid Waiver requirements, and organizational policies. Oversee accurate and timely documentation of services, progress notes, and billing requirements. Maintain audit-ready files and ensure staff adherence to documentation standards. Track and analyze program outcomes, including skill development, completion rates, and employment transitions. Use data to drive program improvements and ensure effectiveness. Prepare and submit reports to leadership and funding sources as required. Participate in internal quality assurance processes and implement corrective actions as needed. Maintain effective communication with participants, families, guardians, staff, funders, and community partners. Collaborate across departments to ensure coordinated, seamless service delivery. Represent Vocational Employment Services in internal and external meetings, committees, and partnerships. Stay current on workforce development trends and best practices. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, Workforce Development, Business, or a related field is preferred. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in vocational training, workforce development, or human services. Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred. Strong background in curriculum development, training, or instructional delivery. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain employer and community partnerships. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple programs, priorities, and deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data tracking systems. Physical Requirements Ability to pull up to 25 pounds. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Ability to reach, turn and twist above and below the waist. Work Environment The work environment characteristics may vary.
