Description

American Traveler is hiring an MFM Sonographer for a high-risk OB ultrasound unit, requiring at least 1 year of MFM experience and 3+ years of sonography experience.

Details

• High-risk obstetric ultrasound unit with 6 scanning rooms and one coordinator
• Utilizes a Samsung Hera Z20 ultrasound machine
• Performs comprehensive obstetric ultrasounds including first trimester scans (NT, early anatomy), detailed anatomy surveys, growth and BPP studies, multiple gestation evaluations, cervical length assessments, placental evaluation/PAS, and Doppler studies (umbilical artery, MCA, ductus venosus)
• Supports fetal therapy and invasive procedures such as amniocentesis, CVS, and PUBS (sonographers do not perform or guide these procedures)
• Anatomy scans scheduled for 45 minutes (90 minutes for twins); follow-up/NT/early anatomy exams scheduled for 30 minutes (60 minutes for twins)
• Shift schedule from 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM
• 13-week assignment length
• Uses Epic for EMR/PACS charting

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of sonography experience required
• At least 1 year of MFM-specific experience required
• Current BLS certification (AHA only)
• License required if applicable
• Must complete studies meeting AIUM accreditation standards
• Strong documentation skills for accurate measurement entry into EMR/PACS systems
• Ability to collaborate with MFM physicians, radiologists, nurses, genetic counselors, and support staff

• Provide compassionate, sensitive care to patients facing high-risk pregnancies while explaining procedures within scope of practice
• Maintain patient privacy and emotional sensitivity throughout care
• Evaluate complex maternal and fetal conditions and identify abnormal findings
• Promptly communicate abnormal results to providers, with consults performed bedside
• Participate in multidisciplinary care coordination with the OB and genetics team
• Flu vaccination required with no medical or religious exemptions accepted
• Local candidates accepted with a 60-mile radius requirement from the facility, at a reduced rate
