Lead Architect - Platform

Role Description

This Platform Architect position serves as a critical bridge between Platform Engineering and application development teams as we build the next generation platform serving Wendy’s suite of applications. The ideal candidate will be T-shaped in skillset: broad across many disciplines, but deep in one or two areas, preferably software engineering and/or cloud infrastructure. We’re looking for a curious, hands-on technologist to lead others in building rock-solid solutions that for our internal partners.

• A strong technical understanding of both software engineering and infrastructure-as-code is required.
• Familiarity with 12-factor microservice design, stateless applications, modern cloud design and tooling, and relational database technologies are highly desired.
• Fluency in a few software languages (Go, Java, Python preferred) is necessary.
• Understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform is essential.
• Experience designing cloud-forward solutions, being part of a cloud platform engineering team, or designing a cloud platform will set candidates apart.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a source of direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff.
• Mentors engineers, development team, and other IT staff by providing guidance and expertise that drives and supports intelligent innovation and risk taking.
• Operates independently to plan and facilitate cross-functional workshops and inceptions.
• Establishes business-based reasons for change that mobilizes others to adopt new innovation processes.
• Facilitates workshops and inceptions to pull out requirements affecting technology decisions.
• Develops, recommends, and enhances engineering best practices, such as unit and functional testing, code reviews, CI, design documentation and review.
• Ensures engineering best practices are followed.
• Delivers the appropriate solution architecture by building and developing software and data solutions from a cloud perspective.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree is required, preferably in Computer Science or Management Information Systems.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience or experience in a related field.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Skilled at communicating effectively and empathetically with technical and non-technical users.
• Experience working on an Agile/Kanban team.
• Comprehensive understanding of SDLC.
• QSR experience a plus.

Requirements

• Expected Work Location (Remote): It is expected that you will primarily perform work remotely. You may be asked to travel, as needed, to the Wendy's Restaurant Support Center (RSC) or to other location(s) as designated by the Company.
