GCP Cloud Engineer

Contract: 9+ Months (Potential to convert to FTE) Hybrid: 3 days a week (Downtown Chicago or Chicago Suburbs) W2 ONLY (NO C2C) Responsibilities Design, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud-based systems using GCP services (e.g., VertexAI, BigQuery, Private Google Access). Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform and Jenkins. Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines. Script automation tasks using Python or Bash. Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure using Datadog and Splunk. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cloud solutions meet business and security requirements. Support AI and machine learning initiatives. Implement and maintain security guardrails and compliance standards. Minimum Qualifications Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform services. Strong problem-solving and technical aptitude. Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Experience creating CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins. Proficiency in scripting languages (Python or Bash). Familiarity with GitHub for version control. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Experience with monitoring/logging tools like Datadog and Splunk. Ability to query and analyze logs in Splunk. Preferred Qualifications Experience enabling security guardrails in cloud environments. Exposure to AI/ML capabilities within GCP. GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Data Engineer). Familiarity with Palo Alto network security solutions. Knowledge of Private Google Access (PGA) and its implementation.
