We are seeking an attorney licensed in Kansas for an 800‑hour limited term position to handle matters in the Kansas City area. Missouri license is a plus. Job Summary This position is responsible for representing clients in all areas of insurance defense practice, handling cases that are primarily low in complexity and exposure. Manages all phases of cases from intake to resolution. Essential Job Functions Litigate low‑complexity and exposure cases and perform duties necessary from intake to trial and/or settlement, including preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs. Attend hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials. Proactively inform leadership of case handling opportunities and challenges encountered. Consult with the Claims Department on the legal aspects of files. Perform other tasks or duties to ensure efficient case management. May handle second‑chair trials and trial cases with minimal complexity and/or exposure. May provide support to senior attorneys on cases of greater complexity and/or exposure and may receive developmental assignments of matters that are of moderate complexity and/or exposure. Physical Actions Job is performed in‑person at a Farmers office or virtually at an approved alternative work location. The work may include field locations. Physical work environment is indoors and climate‑controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation. Normal distractions include background noise from office equipment and chatter among people, as well as interruptions. Field work outdoors may include exposure to weather elements. Responsibilities include sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time, occasionally moving around the workplace, navigating stairs or uneven surfaces, moving, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing fine‑motor tasks such as typing and writing. Regular travel between Farmers offices, alternative work locations, and/or field locations is required. Physical Environment Required job duties are normally performed in a climate‑controlled office environment, with some exposure to uncontrolled outside environmental conditions and travel via automobile and/or commercial transportation. Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree preferred. Licensed to practice law in applicable states required upon hire. Experience Requirements Civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury experience preferred. Special Skill Requirement Public speaking, ability to function in adversarial or confrontational situations, driving. Additional Qualification Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
