Piping Designer

What You’ll Be Doing The Piping Designer is responsible for performing all aspects of complete designs of mechanical/piping assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. Location: Pasadena, TX. The role will be performed under general supervision and includes: Drafting redlined P&IDs and ensuring alignment with lead sheets. Updating equipment, valves, and instrument symbols. Consolidating multiple P&IDs to a single P&ID. Field verifying any unknowns or gaps in the current P&ID set. Developing P&IDs by field sketching existing pipelines where no documentation is available. Updating P&IDs in native CAD format and PDF format. Delivering final “Issued for As-Built” packages to the site. Preferred Background Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting. Experience 4+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical/piping drafting and design. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge and application of piping materials. Design of less complex process and utility piping systems. Knowledge and application of piping supports and restraints. Flexibility analysis of piping system. Manual valve sizing, use, and application. Drafting of P&IDs and GAs. Design of piping arrangements such as pump suctions and discharges, tanks, control valve stations, etc. Familiarity with specifications and installation details for construction bulk materials and equipment. Ability to create accurate mechanical/piping installation documents from vendor equipment drawings. Understanding of workflow/information flow between disciplines. Understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for production of all mechanical/piping deliverables. Knowledge of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards. Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD and Microstation. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good presentation and virtual team skills.
