GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL HEAD COACHSEED LA Grizzlies | In-Season Supplemental PositionReports toDirector of AthleticsProgram authorityFull leadership responsibility for the assigned athletics programScheduleUp to approximately 15 hours per week; practices, contests, travel, meetings, and postseason as assignedSeasonBegins approximately one month before the official season and continues through postseason responsibilitiesCompensationSeasonal stipend: To be determinedPosition PurposeThe coach will lead the Girls Flag Football program and provide a safe, competitive, student-centered experience that develops athletes, strengthens team culture, and advances the mission of SEED LA Athletics. The coach is accountable for program culture, student development, compliance, communication, operations, and competitive preparation.Sport-Specific LeadershipAssume full leadership and day-to-day responsibility for the Girls Flag Football program.Teach age-appropriate flag football fundamentals, position skills, offensive and defensive concepts, and game strategy.Design practices that develop throwing, receiving, route running, flag pulling, pursuit, spacing, communication, and decision-making.Prepare game plans, manage substitutions and playing-time decisions, and make sound in-game adjustments.Develop athletes with varied levels of prior football experience and create clear pathways for continued growth.Promote the growth, visibility, and long-term sustainability of girls flag football at SEED LA.Program and Student ResponsibilitiesPlan and conduct at least three organized practices each week, in addition to scheduled contests and team obligations.Begin program duties approximately one month before the official season and remain committed through the conclusion of postseason competition.Select and develop the team through a fair, organized, and clearly communicated evaluation process.Establish and enforce team expectations consistent with the SEED LA coach handbook, student code of conduct, and athletic department policies.Monitor attendance, academic progress, behavior, and eligibility; communicate concerns promptly to students, families, teachers, and the Director of Athletics.Provide or coordinate at least one structured academic support or study session each week during the season.Maintain accurate rosters, schedules, emergency information, attendance records, and required athletic department documentation.Communicate schedules, changes, expectations, and concerns to athletes and families in a timely and professional manner.Supervise athletes from the beginning of each team activity until every student has been released through an approved dismissal procedure.Travel on the team bus for away contests and assist with student transportation when assigned and authorized by the school.Inventory, distribute, collect, maintain, and securely store uniforms, equipment, supplies, and keys.Attend required athletics meetings, trainings, league meetings, and school events connected to the program.Report injuries, incidents, facility concerns, and policy violations promptly and follow all emergency and return-to-participation procedures.Complete season-opening and season-closing responsibilities, including equipment reconciliation, awards input, program evaluation, and recommendations for the following year.Leadership and Professional ExpectationsServe as the primary leader and point of accountability for the assigned program, reporting directly to the Director of Athletics.Support the school’s commitment to participation, competitive growth, girls’ sports, play equity, and access for students from varied experience levels.Model professional conduct and maintain appropriate adult-student boundaries in person, during travel, and through electronic communication.Collaborate with school-day, student-life, operations, and academic staff to support the whole student-athlete.Manage conflict calmly and take immediate action when student safety, dignity, or school expectations are at risk.Use athletic department purchasing, fundraising, facility, transportation, and communication procedures; do not make unauthorized commitments on behalf of the school.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred.Previous coaching or competitive playing experience in the assigned sport; high school coaching experience preferred.Demonstrated ability to teach sport skills, organize practices, supervise adolescents, and build an inclusive team culture.Strong communication, organization, judgment, conflict-management, and follow-through skills.Ability to work effectively with students, families, school staff, officials, opponents, and community partners.Ability to meet the physical and scheduling demands of practices, contests, travel, and equipment management, with or without reasonable accommodation.Required Clearances and CertificationsNFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certification before coaching responsibilities begin.Current adult CPR and First Aid certification before coaching responsibilities begin.Successful completion of the school’s background-check and hiring requirements.Completion of all additional SEED LA, league, and CIF Southern Section coaching requirements by the assigned deadlines.Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and school authorization when transporting students is assigned.Employment ConditionsThis is a seasonal, supplemental position. Continued assignment is contingent upon satisfactory performance, completion of all requirements, program needs, and annual approval.
