Relationship Banker I

Position Title Relationship Banker I Responsibilities Maintain a thorough knowledge of all First United Bank products, services, procedures, policies, and relevant regulatory issues including the Bank Secrecy Act, Privacy, Fair Lending, Regulation E, deposit, transaction, and loan accounts. Follow proper procedures and policies accurately and efficiently for all customer‑servicing activities. Lead by example and serve as a role model for tellers and other Relationship Bankers. Retain existing customers and develop new customer relationships. Serve as customers’ single point of contact for all consumer and small‑business products and services. Exceed performance goals and actively participate in all sales campaigns; promote new products and services and educate customers and peers. Exceed customer‑service expectations by offering excellent service, greeting customers, smiling, using their name, and building rapport to generate customer loyalty. Identify and match customer product needs through interviews and discussions; make referrals to other staff members and departments as needed. Open new accounts, certificates of deposit, safe‑deposit boxes, and other ancillary products; provide account opening information and ensure proper paperwork is completed and entered into the system. Assist customers with routine questions and requests such as balance inquiries, temporary statements, check copies, stop payments, holds, online banking, ACH, automatic funds transfer, direct deposit, wire processing, coin processing, notary services, and privacy. Verify all transactions, place holds as appropriate, and perform cash‑drawer verification and vault duties according to bank standards and policies. Resolve customer complaints, problems, and other issues proactively. Review and resolve account issues listed in insufficient and exception reports on a daily basis. Perform security functions by opening/closing bank and vault and ensuring overall safety and security of bank grounds. Participate in all meetings, bank functions, and customer appreciation/community events as requested or assigned by supervisor. Qualifications High school diploma preferred; some college preferred. Minimum of 1 year of banking experience as a teller, lending assistant, or new accounts. Cash handling experience preferred. Superior customer service skills required. Basic mathematics ability to solve problems. Excellent accuracy and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Time‑management skills and ability to work independently. Good judgment and decision‑making ability. Critical thinking with logic and reasoning to identify solutions. Ability to multi‑task. Professional appearance and demeanor; ethical conduct at all times. Active listening skills: giving full attention, asking questions, and seeking ways to assist customers. Benefits 401(k) matching contributions.
