We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a growing team in Houston, Texas in a contract-to-permanent role. This position is ideal for an accounting specialist with experience across payables, receivables, sales tax, and general ledger activities who can help maintain accurate financial records and support month-end processes. The role follows a hybrid schedule with four days in the office and one day remote.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting entries and maintain organized financial records in alignment with company policies and applicable reporting standards.
• Prepare and distribute customer billing, then monitor outstanding receivables and communicate with clients to resolve past-due balances.
• Review vendor invoices for accuracy, enter them into the accounting system, and help ensure payments are issued according to agreed terms.
• Track fixed asset activity, including setup, capitalization, and ongoing record maintenance.
• Examine sales tax treatment on vendor and customer transactions to support accurate tax handling.
• Assist with month-end close by posting journal entries, completing reconciliations, and verifying the accuracy of account balances.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to maintain reliable financial reporting.
• Partner with Treasury or related internal teams to support payment preparation and routine accounting operations.
• Provide broad accounting support and respond to additional day-to-day financial tasks as business needs evolve.• At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activity.
• Working knowledge of sales tax and corporate tax concepts, including review of transaction-level tax treatment.
• Ability to prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations with strong attention to detail.
• Familiarity with financial reporting practices and maintaining compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
• Proficiency using accounting systems and standard business software tools.
• Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills in a hybrid work environment.
