Job Overview Primary City/State: Osborn Medical Center – 7400 E Osborn Rd Scottsdale, AZ 85251 Category: Skilled Nursing Shift: Day Department: Critical Care 1+ year ICU experience required. Up to $15,000 sign‑on bonus available. Responsibilities The RN’s practice is guided by the ANA Standard for Professional Nurse and Code of Ethics. The RN has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts and procedures as applied to the care of the patient population served. The RN records patients’ medical history and symptoms, helps perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operates medical equipment, administers treatment and medications, and assists with patient follow‑up and rehabilitation. The RN establishes a care plan or contributes to an existing plan, including activities such as administering medication, managing intravenous (IV) lines, administering therapies and treatments, observing the patient and recording observations, and consulting with physicians and other health‑care clinicians. The RN teaches patients and their families how to manage illnesses or injuries, explains post‑treatment and home‑care needs, diet, nutrition, exercise, and self‑administration of medications and therapies. The RN provides direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides and delegates when appropriate, supports efforts to advance clinical knowledge and skills, precepts new hire staff and students, and assists them to seek and complete required tasks. The RN further enhances knowledge in nursing management and patient care as required, continuously improving the patient experience and clinical outcomes while fostering a healthy work environment. All RN staff who have direct responsibility for the care of stroke patients must have knowledge of: Stroke symptoms and warning signs Protocols and pathways used to identify, evaluate and manage stroke patients NIHSS Stroke Alert activation and protocol Stroke quality indicators Available stroke patient education materials and community resources Educational requirements Stroke Center website resources Essential Functions Collect health data systematically, prioritize data collection, and involve the family. Analyze assessment data across diagnoses and develop, implement, evaluate and revise patient plans of care that are family‑centered, developmental, age‑appropriate and culturally relevant. Identify expected outcomes, implement interventions, initiate treatments and rescue measures based on standing orders, policies and procedures, and provide comprehensive nursing care meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and social‑cultural needs of patients and families. Evaluate patient progress, document observations and interventions, and maintain quality and effectiveness of care. Evaluate nursing practice in relation to professional standards, integrate ethical principles, enhance knowledge of culture and diversity needs, collaborate with interdisciplinary team, contribute to professional development of peers and nursing staff, and foster evidence‑based practice and research to improve patient outcomes. Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) Required: Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing All staff with direct responsibility for stroke patients must refer to the addendum for stroke‑specific education requirements. All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire or have five or more years of RN experience (including direct patient care or indirect RN roles) at the time of hire.
