The organization supports multiple specialties, creating an opportunity to work with a variety of claim types and insurance scenarios.Job DescriptionThe Insurance AR Specialist will be responsible for researching and resolving outstanding insurance accounts from initial investigation through resolution. Rather than simply performing routine account follow-up, this position requires strong critical thinking and the ability to determine why a claim has not paid and what action is needed to resolve it.The ideal candidate is comfortable challenging incorrect payer information, researching insurance guidelines, and taking ownership of complex accounts.Key ResponsibilitiesResearch and resolve outstanding and past-due insurance accountsIdentify claim errors, missing information, and other issues preventing reimbursementContact insurance carriers directly to investigate unpaid or delayed claimsReview payer guidelines and determine appropriate next steps for account resolutionFollow up on denied, underpaid, or incorrectly processed claimsPrepare and submit appeals and other payer correspondence as neededPartner with physician practices to obtain medical records and supporting documentationReview accounts receivable reports and prioritize accounts requiring follow-upMaintain detailed documentation of all payer, patient, and internal communicationsVerify patient and guarantor information when researching credit balances or refundsEscalate delinquent accounts for additional collection activity when appropriateAssist with payment arrangements and account resolution when applicableMaintain accurate account files and documentationProvide additional support to Revenue Cycle team members during periods of high volumeQualifications2+ years of healthcare insurance collections or AR follow-up experienceStrong understanding of insurance claims, denials, reimbursement, and accounts receivableExperience communicating directly with insurance payersAbility to independently research complex claims and determine appropriate resolutionComfortable questioning or escalating payer responses when information appears incorrectStrong understanding of healthcare insurance guidelines and claim workflowsExcellent documentation and organizational skillsStrong computer skills and ability to learn new systemsPreferred QualificationsPrevious dental, oral surgery, or physician billing experienceExperience supporting multiple medical specialtiesExposure to both medical and dental insurance billingExperience working with complex specialty claimsProductivity ExpectationsManage approximately 35–40 accounts per dayProductivity is evaluated with an emphasis on meaningful progress toward account resolution, rather than simply touching a high number of accountsMaintain thorough account notes and accurate documentationDemonstrate consistent productivity across the workweekIdeal CandidateStrong problem-solver and critical thinkerComfortable digging into an account to determine the true cause of nonpaymentConfident communicating and negotiating with insurance carriersAble to recognize when payer information may be incomplete or inaccurate and research furtherAdaptable and able to learn new specialties and reimbursement requirementsStrong work ethic with consistent follow-throughDetail-oriented and organizedTeam-oriented while capable of managing an independent workloadAdditional DetailsDirect hire opportunityFully onsite position in Dallas, TXMonday–Friday daytime scheduleSome flexibility around start and end times may be available once a consistent schedule is establishedOne-step onsite interview processBenefitsMedical insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceLife insurance401(k) with employer matchingEmployee referral programAddison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
