Staff Engineer, Hardware Design

Summary Staff Engineer, Hardware Design works with cross‑functional teams—including designers, customers, manufacturing engineering, and project leadership—to ensure robust, high‑quality product development. The role enhances designs with feedback from reviews in manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design, and simulations, and provides support throughout the manufacturing process of the electrical/mechanical systems designed. Req ID: 131025 Region: Americas Country: USA State/Province: Texas City: Austin Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects across multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling. Provide technical leadership and direction to a sizable team of engineers. Act as the go‑to expert in one or more technical areas. Manage non‑technical elements of an engineering project (people, finances, etc.). Review and interpret customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract liaison. Analyze trade‑offs in complex systems, recommend solutions, and develop deployment strategies. Lead the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinate site‑wide deployment efforts. Manage relationships with key vendors/partners as needed. Research system ideas and create detailed plans, schematics, and specifications for electrical systems/circuits. Design, modify, and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. Create designs in line with Celestica procedures, regulations, and customer standards. Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations. Solve complex engineering problems. Act as liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and internal teams. Recommend and implement system modifications. Technical Capabilities Strong engineering design experience in compute, storage, or network products. Knowledge of AI products and GPU servers (plus). Experience with high‑speed OSFP/QSFP networking design equipment and testing (plus). Experience in very high‐speed digital hardware design and development, including DDR5, 100GbE or faster Ethernet, PCIe Gen5+, 56G SERDES, or similar interfaces. Strong organizational, planning, and program management skills. Ability to collaborate within a team environment to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards. Experience in a customer‑facing environment (desired). Excellent multitasking and problem‑solving skills (desired). Strong oral and written communication skills. International culture awareness and ability to collaborate within a global team (desired). Physical Demands Performed in a normal office environment. May require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer. Frequent repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse). Occasional travel may be required. Typical Experience 8+ years of related experience in similar engineering roles.
