Sr. Underwriter I - Northeast Region

Summary Determines acceptability, conditions, and pricing of specific property & casualty (P&C) insurance risks and agrees on coverage within regulatory requirements, corporate product offerings, and designated authority level. Responsibilities Underwrite large, complex property & casualty (P&C) insurance risks. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of loss experience, key accounts, loss trends, and relevant legal or economic factors in the property & casualty business. Participate on a team of underwriters and other staff to meet the insurance and service needs of large multi-product customers. Assist in the training and development of coworkers as directed by management. Travel within the assigned geographic territory on agency calls and accompany Marketing representatives on appointments and industry events. Develop and maintain relationships with agency representatives and negotiate new and renewal business in partnership with Marketing to drive profitable growth. Support profit improvement initiatives in collaboration with the Marketing Department. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. 6+ years of commercial human services/social services/package underwriting experience, as defined by the division (CPCU and/or AU designations preferred). Excellent analytical and communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of forms and coverages. Ability to travel within the assigned geographic territory on agency calls.
